Improved e-type tests address DDA
access requirements
|
 |
A new version of
the e-type tests was released on 20th February 2009, incorporating improvements
which address the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
Existing e-type
Centres will gain access to the new tests by way of an automatic update. The
software will update automatically when it is first launched after the upgrade
date. Once the software has updated you will see the new and improved features
of the e-type tests and assessments.
 |
The improvements
to the accessibility of the e-type tests will bring a number of new features:- |
-
the font size
of the text can be changed, to improve visibility
-
the colours
of both the text font and the background can be changed, to provide an
improved visual experience for a wider spectrum of users
-
the
arrangement of the text on-screen is improved
-
the
relationship of the source text and the grid in which the candidate types is
improved, with the source text area being reduced and the grid being made
larger
-
keyboard
support for navigation within the system
The improvements
to the accessibility of the e-type tests are part of a continuing programme of
enhancements. It is hoped that they will make access to the e-type tests more
inclusive, increasing their usability for learners with visual impairment or
other disabilities.
