When e-type was launched in
2006, it would have been difficult to predict how far the qualification
would develop. By June 2010, well over 18,000 e-type candidate
registrations had been ordered. Centres continue to take up e-type as the
perfect complement to ECDL, as the courseware enables learners to master the
computer keyboard through 10-finger touch-typing. For learners, e-type is a
route to boosting their productivity, potentially backed by BCS certificates
to add to their CV, enhancing their employment prospects.
The pace of change for e-type
has accelerated since the launch of web-hosted e-type Professional Online
courseware in 2009.
Web-hosted e-type for Students
courseware, designed for 6 to 16-year-old learners is now available, with
specially created tests.
Special prices are available
for Schools.
New flexibility has also been
introduced, as for the first time it is now possible to purchase courseware
and tests separately, as well as the popular combined courseware and test
packages. Test packages now include 3 test attempts per candidate plus 3
diagnostic assessment tests.
e-type now comprises two
qualifications, the BCS Level 1 Qualification in Touch-typing (QCF), and BCS
Level 2 Qualification in Touch-typing (QCF). As the only touch-typing
qualifications on the QCF, these are eligible for funding, where
applicable.
e-type tests use the BQS (BCS
Qualifications) testing system.
If your Centre has not done so
already, why not take a detailed look at the qualification? There is no
additional fee for existing BCS Approved Test Centres to accredit for
e-type, and applying for accreditation takes a matter of moments via the
Approved Centre Forum. You will hear back on your application within a
maximum of 10 days. Centres can also request a free 30-day evaluation of
the e-type Professional or e-type for Students courseware online via the
e-type homepage on the BCS website.
