BQS 3F Update

With the 1st September fast approaching, we felt that it was now appropriate to update you on our plans for forthcoming changes in relation to the new BCS 3F (Framework For the Future) candidate registration system, and its impact on your current installation of our BCS Qualifications automated test system. In addition, this is an ideal time to provide you with an insight into the products we are currently developing in support of existing and emerging BCS Qualifications.

Activ is now part of the BCS Group, and as such we are expected to be at the forefront of development work in line with the BCS 3F changes. One key change is that from the 1st September you will order registrations and enrol candidates via the BCS ACF (Approved Centre Forum). This change has made it necessary for us to modify our test system to allow it to pull down candidate data from the ACF, and it is important that you know how to "drive" the new system.

We have added a feature to our already sophisticated test system that will allow you to search for and download from the ACF new candidate data for registrations after 1st September.   This feature will be available from the 1st September.  All new registrations must take place on the ACF first, after which you will download the candidate data into the test system.  To provide you with the support and guidance we have produced a supplement to our existing User Guide to explain and demonstrate how to use the 3F-enabled system.   You can download the BQS User Guide supplement here.

New product updates :

ECDL Training (e-Learning) :

Our e-Learning products are currently close to completion.  We will be looking to make Syllabus 5 ECDL (Office XP, 2003 and 2007) units available to centres from the 24th August, in order to fully support the new BCS Qualifications.  The new unit, Improving Productivity, we will aim to make available in the first week in September. If you have already purchased ECDL courseware from us then please contact your Activ account manager for details regarding how you can have access to these new materials.  We will provide further updates to the release schedule over the next couple of weeks.

ECDL Testing :

We are aiming to provide all new test products by the end of September through a series of small updates.  However, from 1st September you will be able to register for the new qualifications for new candidates on the ACF and then download the details into the BQS system in preparation.  Testing for the new BCS Qualifications will not be able to take place until our new test products have been added to the system.   From the 1st September you can register candidates for the NQF accredited BCS Qualifications and take tests using Syllabus 4.5 ECDL modules.  We will be providing you with updated details of the release schedule of our new test products over the next few weeks.

In addition to the user guide supplement we have created a very useful presentation to expand on the some of the changes in processes involved with the September changes.  To view the presentation click here or alternatively you can download the presentation from here
